{Bond...James Bond}

We love breaking out of the norm and working with corporate groups to create a fun and festive cocktail party. Durlach & Associates hosted the Charleston Symphony Orchestra's Bond performance. RLE transformed the 'storage room' of the Memminger Auditorium for the pre-performance cocktail party. Thanks to Susie Prueter and her wonderful crew and the brilliant team of Mediterra Catering for their awesome cuisine.

Red Letter Events wedding featured in current issue of Brides Magazine

Red Letter Events is pleased to announce the featured photograph of
{Mollie & Whitten September 2008} wedding in the November / December 2009 issue!
Thanks to the wonderful persistence of Leigh Webber, BRIDES Magazine has picked up a photograph from the wedding ceremony that took place at the William Aiken House front lawn.
We hung small wreaths with turquoise ribbon to match the colors of the wedding to tie to the 'RESERVED' seats for the bride & groom's family.

{Kimberly & Matt}

Perfect Weather! Kimberly & Matt definitely had the heavens in their favor on October 24th. The weather was calling for rain....rain....& more rain on the wedding day. The mother of groom just laughed and said that was the case on both of her other children's wedding days, so why not Kimberly & Matt's! Instead, we had beautiful skies and warm weather as everyone danced the night away to the rockin' sounds of Permanent Vacation under the large tent at Patriots Point Pavilion.

Beautiful Floral design by Lotus Flower:
Ashley Bakery did an amazing job with the wedding cake. The bride wanted to incorporate the palm tree motif from her wedding invitations and it worked out perfectly.

They had the most adorable attendants. Ring Bearer 'Charlie' in his vest and cap and Flower Girl Sadie in her white dress with a purple sash to match the bridesmaid's dresses.
Thank you to Kimberly & Matt for allowing us to be a part of this day and thanks to all of our wonderful vendors, including the talented Tara Lowry & Rick McKee for capturing the story of the day!

escort cards & street signs by RLE; Photography by Robbin Knight Photography;

The bride Missie wore a dress from the Gown Boutique of Charleston and 'something blue' were her Manolo Blanik Turquoise Rhinestone Buckle d'Orsay shoes.

{Traditions, Something Blue........... Katie & Russ continued}

The old saying goes...
'Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue..... Happy is the Bride with a Sixpence Penny in her shoe!'

 This 'something blue' piece of fabric was sewn into the under portion of the bride's dress and contained a special traditional dime. The dime had been given to the bride's mother, grandmother and great-grandmother prior to their weddings to be worn in their shoe.

Traditions are a great way to tie in that special touch to a wedding day to customize it as your own and continue on for generations!

{So in Love! Katie & Russ}

It's so incredible to watch two people that are so in love with each other and so excited about the ceremony moments. Every groom gets a few butterflies in his stomach (rarely can admit it!) but, I was a little worried we were going to lose this one! The groom was a cool shade of pale green and I had to get him to lie down on the couch and drink ginger ale before we started the ceremony. Photography by the talented {Captured by Kate} Thornton.

Delicious cake by {Ashley Bakery}, swiss dot design added just that extra touch to the cake detail.

Love the coral, pinks

I love this picture! Mother and Daughter share a special moment.

AAAAHHH, Father of the Bride Ken takes a breather from the dance floor.

{Oh Happy Day! Ashley & Andrew Parker}

There's nothing better than a beautiful happy 'blushing bride' on her wedding day. Ashley and her parents John and Karin are seen here kissing her on the cheek. Ashley and Andrew reaffirmed their ceremonial vows with all of their family & friends in attendance at St. Stephen's Church, it was a very 'happy day' for everyone!
Incredible photography by Virgil Bunao of {CVI Photography}...he does such amazing work and I'm so thrilled to be working with such a fun and talented team of folks!

I love this shot of Ashley in the garden of {St. Stephen's Church}. It's such a beautiful lush garden and great place to take pictures with your bridal party and family. And this picture below, was taken in front of the College of Charleston Cistern...
the couple's Alma Mater. I love the wash Virgil put on this photo to give it that old-timey look!

Colorful spring floral arrangements were artfully arranged by Karen and her team at {OK Florist}. For Ashley's wedding colors, we worked with a neutral palette of light greens and whites/ivory and a splash of lillac. The result was a beautiful backdrop for the wedding ceremony & reception.

Their new monogram hung above the mantel
 as the backdrop for the head table at the {Carolina Yacht Club}.

Guests enjoyed 'North meets South' sweet favors, Salt Water Taffies from the bride's New Jersey hometown and Georgia Preserves from the groom's stomping grounds.

Liz & Bladen Continued....Beachside Rehearsal Dinner Evening

Liz & Bladen welcomed family and friends for a casual beachside rehearsal dinner evening at The Citadel Beach House on the Isle of Palms. Guests enjoyed tunes by DJ Moo Moo and good eats by Granville's Catering.

I love to use these Coral Reef Sheer linens from Mosaic Linens, definitely added that beach touch to the evening, along with the beautiful floral designs by Lotus Flower.

Bladen's favorite dessert is old-fashioned pound cake (just like Mom used to make!), sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with strawberries, ice cream and a little whipped cream on top. Guests devoured the sweet treats prepared by Ashley Bakery such a fresh approach to the "groom's cake."

Boone Hall Beauty

Liz & Bladen were married at the beautiful and historic Boone Hall Plantation. Incredible photography by Leigh Webber captured this gorgeous event. Floral design by Annie Mueller with A New Leaf Florist. Custom Linen Runners by RLE.

I really enjoyed getting to know Liz & Bladen and have known their families for quite some time as we also did Bladen's sister Hannah's wedding last October.

 Liz chose the gorgeous bridesmaids dresses in blue from Lula Kate and Bladen's gentlemen all wore tan suits with bowties adorned with SC Palmetto Trees & Half-Moons...{a SC icon!} from Dumas & Sons in downtown Charleston.

The "lucky links" worn by Bladen were a gift from new Brother-in-Law Jason nothing like something new for the groom!

Guests enjoyed passed Sweet Tea Firefly Vodka drinks as they walked from the ceremony to the reception at The Cotton Dock.

Awesome cake and design by Ashley Bakery. This was an exact match to the design on the wedding invitations.

Coming up for Air

Whew! What a great Spring/Summer Wedding Season. Thanks to everyone for your patience as we worked through the last several months. Unfortunately I have neglected the RLE blog, so here is a much overdue update!

{RED LETTER WHEELS}

I've acquired a new set of wheels to get around quickly downtown and get those day-to-day errands done in a timely fashion. So to become more eco-friendly AND to save on time, I found a gently-used, 3-speed beach cruiser. It's quite a site with all those colors, but its a great safety tool in dodging all the cars. See you downtown!

{INVITATION VENDOR}

The very talented Heather Forsythe has been photographing many RLE weddings over the years and has recently dabbled into the invitations/save the date world. Her work is amazing and I highly recommend you check it out. She's just finishing up work on the 1875 Antique Letterpress and I can't wait to see the hot off the press work she'll be printing.

Jenna & Charlie

Last night was Jenna and Charlie's night to shine! I get complete job satisfaction, from an end of the night "shout out" text from the bride and groom: 'YOU ROCK!!!!, Thank you so much, everything was incredible." And that is why I love my job, making a couple's wedding day incredible.

Beautiful Floral Arrangements by Lotus Flower.

After months of looking at "so-so" table linens, we decided to go with a custom linen design and they looked amazing with the William Aiken House and the colorful backdrop. Black and white patterned runners paired with a kelly green linen created a classic design with a fresh approach.

Guests enjoyed the soulful/rockin' sounds of Plane Jane and devoured the delicious multi-flavored (Italian Cream, Chocolate Buttercream & Lemon) cake by Ashley Bakery.

New RLE Website

I'm so excited to finally have the new Red Letter Events website up and running.
www.RedLetterEvents.com
This has been many months of gathering materials and pulling together the details (blood, sweat and tears???). You would think a former advertising and promotion girl would be able to pull together her own company's revised website...but as they say, promoting yourself can be one of the hardest things you do and I beleive it!

I wanted to design the site with a custom RLE wallpaper, thanks go out to Chris Endress with F22Designs for designing the beautiful background, be sure to notice the little "RLE" logos imbedded into the wallpaper design!

Thanks also go out to Mike and Ashley Ward with Consult MDW, for designing and coding the new website. They are both so professional, easy to work with and cost effective! I am so pleased of the final result and feel like I'm launching a whole new look to Red Letter Events...but of course with the same great event services. I hope you enjoy the new site!

Looking back on January!

Whew what a way to start 2009. We had several great events in January starting with the Woodside ~ Moorhead Wedding. Mary Gould and Jamie Moorhead were married on January 3rd at The Citadel Chapel and then danced the night away at the historic Wickcliffe House in downtown Charleston. Thanks to Leigh Webber and her team for capturing the beautiful event! Be sure to check out all the wedding photos in the Wedding Galleries II

January 24th, Red Letter Events worked with a team of talented ladies and fabulous vendors on the Roper Xavier Foundation's Donor Appreciation Gala. Guests enjoyed 'A Night in Casablanca' at the Charleston Place Hotel in downtown Charleston. Gendarmes were on hand to escort guests into 'Rick's Cafe' for the 860-person seated dinner. Special Guest Speaker Tom Brokaw entertained the crowd with stories of his news career and support of our military troops. Humphrey Bogart also made an appearance in front of a model airplane specially designed for the event. "Here's Looking at you Kid!"

Special thanks to Charleston Place Hotel, PDA Lighting & Sound, Lotus Flower, Distinctive Events, Joe Clarke Band, Willie Jones and her talented actors, Signs Plus, OOH Event Decor & Nancy's Plants. For more pictures go to: http://www.redletterevents.com/gallery-social-events.html

A few days later, the RLE team worked with the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy on their annual banquet for a 500-person seated dinner and silent auction. The Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy is an awesome non-profit organization that provides pastoral care and counseling for employees and families of law enforcement and the general public. They are always there when you need the help and this evening, the Charleston community came out to support this great organization. RLE was very proud to be a part of the evening's festivities in providing decor for the event.
